  • Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) Android Oreo update is now set for December
  • The handset was launched with Android Marshmallow in March 2016
  • It received an update to Android Nougat last year
Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016), which was originally launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow in March 2016 and received Android Nougat in August last year, is now set to receive Android 8.0 Oreo in December. Last month, the Samsung Members app showed that the Galaxy J7 (2016) is among the devices that are receiving last year's Android version in 2019. The latest revelation, however, shows a revised roadmap under which the Galaxy J7 (2016) is scheduled to receive Android Oreo in December. This also reiterates the fact that the Galaxy J7 (2016) comes as the first model in the J-Series to receive two major updates after its formal debut.
According to Guncelmiyiz, a Samsung site that tracks update schedules for users in Turkey, the Galaxy J7 (2016) will receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update in December. This is months before the previous schedule showed by the Samsung Members app. Alongside the Galaxy J7 (2016), the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) will receive the Android Oreo update in December.
The Guncelmiyiz site additionally highlights that the Galaxy J5 Prime and Galaxy J7 Nxt are receiving Android 8.0 Oreo this month, while the Galaxy A8 (2016), Galaxy J7 Pro, Galaxy J5 (2017), and Galaxy J3 (2017) will get updated to Android Oreo in October. Similarly, the Galaxy J7 Prime and Galaxy Tab 2 Active are set to receive the new software update in November.
Apart from the Galaxy J7 (2016) in the list, there will be models such as the Galaxy J5 Prime, Galaxy A8 (2016), Galaxy J7 Prime, and the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) that all debuted with Android Marshmallow. The Guncelmiyiz site hasn't revealed the exact date on when we can expect the arrival of the Android Oreo update. However, it says that the update is currently in the test phase. This means it is safe to say that the update will hit the devices sometime before the end of this year.
