How to record Skype calls and share or save them
Microsoft recently started rolling out one of the most important features for its Skype users on Android, iOS and Mac platforms. The VoIP service now lets you record calls and save it locally or share it with others online. The feature was until now limited to clients who use the ‘Content Creator’ mode and has now reached out to more users around the globe. When a user begins recording, it alerts all the others in the call. It gets automatically saved to the cloud for 30 days before disappearing.
So how exactly do you record calls on Skype? Follow these simple steps:
On desktop:
Step 1 – Open Skype and enter into a call.
Step 2 – Click on the ‘+’ sign at the bottom of the screen.
Step 3 – Click on the ‘Start recording’ option.
On Android and iOS:
Step 1 – Open the Skype app and enter into a call.
Step 2 – During the call, tap on ‘+’ sign.
Step 3 – Tap on the circular ‘Start recording’ option.
As mentioned above, you can also save a call recording locally on your smartphone or desktop. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1 – On desktop click on the three-dot ‘More options’
Step 2 – Select ‘Save to Downloads’
Step 3 – You can also select ‘Save as’ to place it where you want it saved.
How to save a call recording on Android and iOS:
Step 1 – While in a call, tap and hold the recorded call in the chat.
Step 2 – Tap on ‘Save’.
Skype is also giving users the flexibility to share the recorded call right after it has ended. This is how you can share it:
Step 1 – On Desktop click on the three-dot ‘More options’
Step 2 – Select the ‘Forward’ option to send it to single or multiple users on Skype.
On mobile, you can tap and hold the recorded call that is automatically saved in your chat once the call has been ended, and then tap on the ‘Forward’ option.
